The mission of the University of Connecticut Marching Band is threefold
To represent, symbolize, and advance the public image of the University of Connecticut.
To provide appropriate ceremonial music and backdrop for important University events.
To provide a venue in which all University students can exercise and enhance their musical skills.
Through spectacular performance in a variety of settings, the University of Connecticut Marching Band has captivated audiences throughout the eastern United States. It has achieved a position of distinction among its peers and a reputation of excellence that is the envy of many.
The Marching Band symbolizes the spirit of the University. On game days, the UCMB continues a rich tradition of excellence with pre-game performances, a half-time show, post-game show, and the singing of the Alma Mater. This impressive display denotes UConn as a place where excellence and collegiate traditions are linked, and it demonstrates that the collegiate atmosphere at UConn is comparable to the best in the nation. The Marching Band symbolizes the spirit of the University.
The Marching Band is a direct link between the University and the public at UConn fooBand Fieldll games, performances at professional sporting events, parades, and high school band competitions. The excellence of the band conveys the message that the University is strong, powerful, and competent. By virtue of its high level of skill, the band turns that initial, positive impression into one of lasting respect and awe.
Rehearsals
UCMB Rehearsals are from 4-6 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the band season. Most rehearsals are located at the Band Field next to W-Lot, but at times musical rehearsals are held in Room 102 of the Music Building. "Mini-camps" are held on one or two weekends during the early portion of the season to prepare for upcoming performances.
